PSL beam Vs Douglas fir Beam
the old douglas fir beam (removed)
the new PSL beam (to be installed)
The PSL Beam installed
Here you an see the difference between the old and new beams in the basement. Notice that the basement beams are dropped and not flush mounted, allowing for ducting, air conditioning, HRV and bathroom fans to be installed easily. The benefits of PSL beams is that they are stronger, stiffer, come in 40' lengths without being special ordered and can span further.
