new vs old window header

NW Marine Dr--original header
NW Marine Dr--new header
Since the windows are all removed it is time for us to begin replacing the structural components of the window openings.  New headers are installed above the windows with new structural cripples to support them.

When we remove the old window header and supports we remove the nails from the exterior using a nail bar before prying them all free.  Sometimes it requires a jack to get the new headers in tight but it is paramount that they are snug and level so that the house will not settle and crack drywall and interior finishes in the future.
