A Very Big Beam, Installed
Contrary to my predictions in the Big Beam post, it only took some mechanical advantage and a lot of stringy muscle for Joel to winch and lever this massive framing member into its new home above an oversized 2x8 shearwall.

The beam is point-loaded with 5-ply 2x8 posts at either end, which continue through the house to the foundation. (see the bolts through the post on the near side)
